The film’s chart-topping music, ensemble cast, great performances, and powerful dialogues have made it a favourite with audiences.

However, it ignited a debate over the depiction of violence, the highly immoral conduct of the protagonist, and the treatment of women. Despite this, it managed to collect ₹662.33 crore (US$83 million) in India. At the same time, it made ₹255.49 crore (US$32 million) overseas.

2. Fighter- A multi-starrer Mega Budget Film

When the fans admire any particular actor or director’s work, they eagerly await their next release.  In that way, Fighter was a highly anticipated film by Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan fans waiting to watch their favourite actors and a fresh pair on screen. Also, after the successful reception of Pathaan, the fans waited to watch Fighter by Siddharth Anand.

It’s a perfect blend of action, national pride, romance, dance, and a multi-starrer cast. It follows the journey of an Indian Air Force officer who pushes his boundaries to become a true hero. The writers took references from real events like the Pulwama attack, the Balakot airstrike, and the India-Pakistan border clashes in 2019.

It got mixed responses from critics. They praised it for its high-octane action with entertaining music and dance. However, the film did not have much to offer in terms of narrative or story. Fighter crossed Rs 200 crore at the domestic box office and made more than Rs 330 crore at the worldwide box office.

3. Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya- A Quirky Rom-Com

Romance and Bollywood share a close relationship, and witnessing our old chocolate boy, Shahid Kapoor, return to the romance genre was all we wanted for Valentine’s Day. Shahid and Kriti Sanon starrer Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya is an Indian sci-fi romantic comedy film.

The film was released on February 9th, just before Valentine’s Day. Despite a few flaws, it was appreciated for its humour, romance, and crackling chemistry of the lead pair, who delivered impeccable performances. The film was released to mixed responses from the critics and collected over ₹133 crore against its budget of ₹75 crore. It’s the story of Aryan, who meets and falls in love with Sifra, only to discover that she is a robot. 

4. Yodha- A Much-awaited Action Thriller

After a successful outing in Shershah, Siddharth Malhotra starrer Yodha was highly anticipated at the box office. Fans were waiting to see him back in the action avatar. The film follows the story of an aeroplane hijack where a soldier helps a passenger and fights the hijackers. However, the damage in the flight engine adds a problem to the situation.

It received mixed to poor reviews for its ordinary storytelling and predictable storyline. However, a few praised it for its action and approach. The film is still showing at the box office and has collected around ₹35 crore. Along with Siddharth, it features Raashii Khanna and Disha Patani in the lead roles.

5. The Crew- A Female cast-led Thriller

Bollywood has been chiefly a male-dominated film industry. Usually, films are promoted under the actors’ names featured in the movie. However, audiences have watched and appreciated film-centric films for the past few years. The Crew is a female-centric film featuring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon as the lead actors.

It is based on the story of three hardworking women working as a cabin crew. But, their lives undergo massive change when they are caught up in unique situations and a web of lies. It opened to mixed reviews. But, many of them praise it for its approach to a female-led cast, unapologetic fun, and the performances of the all-star cast. It minted around ₹30 crore at the domestic box office, collecting ₹10.25 crore on Sunday. It’s still going strong in cinemas and has a worldwide collection of ₹37.5 crore.
