Rinku Singh’s Exclusion From India’s T20 World Cup Squad Leaves Former Cricketers Angry

The 15-member Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 was announced yesterday by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the exclusion of Rinku Singh has certainly left many shocked.

Rohit Sharma is the skipper of the team and Hardik Pandya will be the vice-captain of the team that comprises of Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Mohd. Siraj and Arshdeep Singh. Rinku Singh, Shubman Gill, Avesh Khan and Khaleel Ahmed have been kept in reserves.

Many former cricketers including Irfan Pathan didn’t make any delay in expressing unhappiness over Rinku’s exclusion. Here’s what Irfan Pathan tweeted, “I think Rinku Singh’s recent past performance for Team India shouldn’t have been ignored.”

Rinku Singh has played 15 T20Is for the country in which he has scored 356 runs at a strike rate of 176.24 at an average of 89.

The former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth was so angry that he accused the selectors of making Rinku Singh a scapegoat as they have selected their favourite players in the team. Srikkanth went on to the extent of saying that Rinku Singh has to be in the team, even if it means that Yashasvi Jaiswal had to be dropped but Rinku should be in the team.

The former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar who is also known as Little Master gave his opinion on Rinku Singh’s exclusion too and as per him, the main reason behind the selectors not selecting Rinku is his current performance in the IPL 2024.

Rinku Singh is playing for Kolkata Knight Riders and as per Sunil Gavaskar, he is not getting enough chances to perform as the top order of KKR is performing well and this is the reason behind him not getting selected.
